LAUREN KEVU

Director/founder

Hi there!

I’m Lauren Kevu! Thanks for dropping by to say hi! Isn’t stepping out fun? Scary and challenging, but fun!

I’m a wife, mum of boys, and a speech pathologist by trade, with graduate certificates in public health and tertiary teaching – which means I love sharing and helping people.

I always believed in God but didn’t realise there was a way to live, choices that would activate God’s fullness and blessing in my life. So, when I went off to uni and lived at college, I lived the ‘full’ (but actually very empty) college experience.

Then came a day when I realised – there has to be more to life than this. I grew up in a good home with good morals, so why was I living like this? I knew I needed to get back to church, but not the kind I’d known. I knew I needed my life to change.

Through a friend, a girl I didn’t know picked me up early one Sunday morning and took me to a place I had never been. That turned out to be Ps. Wayne Alcorn’s church, then – Brisbane City Church. That was the day I gave my life to Jesus, and I’ve never looked back. I know He saved my life in every way.

I’ve always loved other cultures: crab chasing with a nanny in Fiji, volunteering for three months in India, Tijuana being the highlight of a family US trip, and then – Adam! Adam’s mum said I was like an Islander with white skin – perfectly happy to sit and share stories and eat all the kaikai! I’ve always seen this richness in our togetherness and felt the deep love and connection regardless of place or status. Of course, now I know that is the love of God, it’s a love for my brother and sister, wherever they are.

And so, Zoe stems from a lot of love and the realisation that – this is my time. These are my brothers and sisters. Will I sit back or step up? Can I lean into loving and serving in whatever way I can, and at the same time, bring others on the journey to strengthen the Australian Church? I hope so. That’s our aim. Love, life, light.

God bless us all as we – leaders, friends, sisters, and brothers – embark on sharing the light and life of Jesus with others, to be His hands and feet, to disciple and care. As the adage goes – if not now, when? If not me, who?
